Jumai Yusuf Bio
Jumai Yusuf is a Writer, Director, and Producer. A Muslim, Nigerian-American immigrant with an MFA from USC and a B.A. in Neurobiology from Harvard, she blends her unique perspective with bold storytelling across live-action and animation. Her short film “Nate & John” premiered at Tribeca, earned an NAACP Image Awards nomination, and won the Cultural Impact Award at the American Pavilion in Cannes. She was a Sundance x Disney Muslim Artist fellow for her animated pilot LAYLA AND THE STARSHIP AFROTOPIA, which was also selected for the Television Screenwriting Lab for Black Muslim Writers hosted by MPAC Hollywood and the BlackHouse. Tawakalitu Adeyinka Yusuf “Tawa” is a Fellow Chartered Accountant (FCA), CPA, and co-founder of Lunar Crown Productions, an entertainment company producing content across media platforms. With over 30 years of global experience in accounting, business development, advisory, and leadership, she seamlessly integrates her financial acumen with a passion for media and the arts. Tawa has contributed to nonprofit leadership, conference planning, and co-founded ICAN-USA, serving as its past chairperson and a member of its Board of Trustees. She champions international collaboration, professional growth, and creative storytelling. Tawa holds an MBA from Northeastern University with Healthcare management specialization and is a member of the Beta Gamma Sigma International honor society.
