TANSEN is an English-language animated musical feature film set in Mughal-era India, that reimagines the legendary singer who transformed Hindustani music. Inspired by accounts that Tansen was born mute, and by the writer’s own experience raising non-verbal children, the story follows a boy who longs to sing his way out of isolation, while learning how to guide a power that can be used to heal or to harm.
